Welcome to my personal web site! You can learn a little about me and what I do here.

Work: I am a graphics software engineer at Autodesk in Atlanta, Georgia, where I work on top-selling CAD applications such as Inventor and AutoCAD. My professional interests revolve around 3D graphics programming, both real-time and photorealistic.

Play: When I need to take a break, I play video games for basically any platform, but my platform of choice has always been the good old-fashioned PC. Favorites include Civilization 4 and Borderlands, among many others. Other things that occupy my time: Guinea pigs, Futurama, The Simpsons, LEGO, Transformers (G1), Japanese pop music, World War II history, and all kinds of electronic gadgets.

Other Stuff:You can find out about some of my previous technical and creative work, though the information is relatively outdated now. Here are some topics I have written or posted about:

  • How Randy Pausch influenced my life.

  • Report on the SIGGRAPH 2003 computer graphics conference in San Diego, CA - now ancient history!

  • Photos from the I3D interactive computer graphics conference:
    • 2008 in Redwood City, CA.
    • 2010 (and a report) in Bethesda, MD.
    • 2011 in San Francisco, CA.

  • Speeches made in Congress after the Japanese attack on the United States in 1941.

  • The Eiffel Tower in the cube-based construction and survival game Minecraft.

  • A quick look (video) at the Ark of the Covenant scaled replica from Sideshow Collectibles.

  • Some "Plants vs. Zombies" shirts that my wife made (here is the game).

  • The Popular Opinion video game poll at Evil Avatar, which I ran for over 100 games from 2007 to 2009.

I will occasionally post photos and other thoughts for friends at Facebook. Last but not least, if you'd like to get in touch with me, you can reach me at mauricio "at" Thanks for stopping by!
